Lifestyle Choices as a Cause of ConstipationConstipation Cause: Lack of FiberOne cause of constipation is a dietary imbalance where you have more foods high in animal fats and refined sugar than those that provide excellent sources of fiber. The best sources of fiber include vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Cheese, eggs, and meat products are a primary constipation cause, which seem to have become a large portion of both the American diet as well as the choices made in other countries. As life has become more hectic and stressful, people grab the easiest and fastest foods they can. The problem is that these foods are high in sugar and fats or have been over processed, thereby removing any trace of the fiber needed on a daily basis.
Dietary fiber comes in both soluble and insoluble forms, which both help
combat any type of constipation cause. Insoluble fiber is the best source. The reason is that it allows more water to be retained within the colon to
further break down food particles or foreign substances so that they become soft stools that can be easily passed from the body. This type of fiber also encourages the growth of good bacteria that helps fight toxins, increase the
number of stools passed per day and improves the gastrointestinal filtration process. Constipation Cause: The Effects of AgingUnfortunately, aging brings with it a number of commonly experienced effects. One of these problems is constipation. A number of factors are tied to the aging process, including a reliance on foods that are convenient or are easy to eat with a loss of teeth but may not have enough fiber, a decrease in the amount of fluids, loss of mobility, disinterest in physical activity or exercise, or more types of medication are contributors to the cause of constipation. Decreased muscle tone and a slower metabolism also compound the problem. Constipation Cause: A Factor of PregnancyWomen who are pregnant experience a number of side effects. Increased hormonal levels, prenatal vitamins which include high levels of iron and calcium, and an enlarged uterus that pushes on the gastrointestinal tract causes a number of digestion and stool problems. Stools become harder due to these factors, making constipation very common. Cause of Constipation: Ignoring Bowel Movement Messages For some reason, people decide they should hold onto their bowel movements. It may be that they feel uncomfortable using a public toilet or have some other related issue. This behavior is also common in small children who have not been toilet trained or might be afraid of having a bowel movement. The longer the stool remains inside of the body and does not pass out, the drier and harder it gets. Ignoring this normal body reflex then becomes a common cause of constipation. Addressing the Cause of ConstipationThere are a number of new products on the market that can help address any cause of constipation related to lifestyle choices. Oxypowder, an oxygen-based therapy, and Blessed Herb’s 21-day colon cleansing kit both work to get rid of constipation and improve the colon’s ability to absorb water and vital nutrients that help detoxify the gastrointestinal system from harmful bacteria and environmental pollutants.
